Nearby police made a desperate attempt to save the life of a driver after witnessing him crash into the back of a truck, but it was to no avail.

A man has died after a car accident in Casula in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police who were pulled into a nearby service station ran to his aid after the accident, which happened on Campbelltown Road, when the driver of the Mazda 3 hit the median strip and crashed into the back of a parked truck.

Despite the help, the driver, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
Police have begun investigating the circumstances behind the sccident and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
