2000 winner Andrew McLeod needed 13 votes to topple Mark Ricciuto’s club record 146, but had to wait until Round 19 for his first votes and finished with seven. Bernie Vince pipped equal club favourite Scott Thompson 13 votes to 11.

BRISBANE LIONS

It seemed the umpires’ love affair with Simon Black was over. The $1.50 club favourite had to wait until Round 8 to poll, but came home strong to tie with Jonathan Brown. Black moved to 161career votes, tied ninth with Fitzroy’s Garry Wilson on the all-time vote-getters.

CARLTON

The new breed of Marc Murphy ($5.50) and Bryce Gibbs ($8.50) gave Chris Judd something to chase, and the 2004 medallist responded with 22 votes. Gibbs more than doubled his previous career tally of seven votes to finish with 15, alongside Murphy.

No wonder the Pies were desperate to get Scott Pendlebury back in the side last Saturday. Pendlebury topped the Pies’ voting with 13, one ahead of fancies Dane Swan and Alan Didak.  And captain Nick Maxwell broke his duck, polling three votes in Round 9.

NORTH MELBOURNE

Despite missing seven games, Brent Harvey was still $1.25 favourite to top the Kangas’ votes. His three votes in Round 19 was enough to beat the retiring Adam Simpson and Andrew Swallow by two. Simpson took his career tally to 72 votes in 306 games.

The ‘Fab Five’ became the ‘Super Six’, with Justin Koschitzke making it six Saints with 10 votes or more. The 110 votes smashed its club high of 91 votes in 1971, when it was runner-up to the Hawks in the GF. Essendon’s 2000 tally of 116 is the record.
