A blistering 10-goal performance from North Launceston’s Seth Campbell has clearly caught the eye of AFL recruiters, with the teenager invited to the NAB AFL Draft Combine in October.
Campbell was the star of the show in the Bombers big percentage boosting 122-point win over North Hobart on Saturday and after finishing with 29 disposals, eight marks and ten goals, he joins fellow Devils teammates Lachlan Cowan (North Launceston) and Tom McCallum (Clarence) as Tasmanians invited to the national combine in Melbourne.
The combine will run from October 7-9 with club interviews and medical screenings conducted at Marvel Stadium across the first two days and physical testing to be held at Melbourne Park on the final day.
While it may have been his mouth-watering TSL game that has recruiters calling, Campbell has also put together a fine NAB League season.
The 17-year-old has averaged 18.8 disposals and 4.4 tackles and finished with 15 goals across his 11 games, with his best performance coming in round five against the Northern Territory.
Campbell finished with 32 disposals and six goals in the Devils 115-point win.
Brandon Leary (North Launceston) and Cameron Owen (Clarence) will also get the chance to shine in front of AFL club recruiters with the pair announced as the first Tasmanians invited to the NAB AFL State Combine with the potential for more to be added to the list by the end of September.
Leary finished the season atop the goal kicking table with 29 majors in 12 games while the 203cm Owen has averaged 10.3 disposals and 13.1 hit outs for the season.
The Devils will have a bye during the final round of the NAB League season this week and after finishing the year 10-3 and in second place, they will bypass the wildcard round the following week and advance straight through to the finals beginning on September 3.
