One state’s most senior traffic cop has revealed he was nabbed speeding through a 50km/h zone in an inner city suburb.

Victoria’s top traffic cop says he is “mortified” after he was caught speeding through an inner city suburb.
Road Policing Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir was on his way to a meeting in an unmarked police car when a mobile speed camera captured him speeding in Parkville shortly before 11am on February 29.
Mr Weir was travelling at 58km/h in a 50km/h zone but believed he was in a 60km/h zone at the time.
Despite his good driving record rendering him eligible for a warning, Mr Weir will pay a $337 fine and receive one demerit point.
He apologised for his actions and said speeding was “unacceptable”, particularly for him.
“I take full responsibility for this error and am mortified it has occurred,” he said.
“I’ve spent my entire career advocating for road safety and this incident proves nobody is immune from making a mistake on the road.
“No matter how far over the limit, all speeding is unacceptable.
“For someone in my position this is especially true.
“I am truly sorry.”
