An unsupervised learner driver who was in her car with two children has narrowly avoided a serious crash after her vehicle ploughed into the side of a home.

Footage has captured the moment the 31-year-old crashed into the home on Westmeadows Lane in Melbourne’s western suburb of Truganina about 8.30am on Wednesday.

Victoria Police Acting Sergeant Aaron Bryan said the woman did not have an “authorised driver at the time”.

Police say the car hit two other vehicles as it was making a right turn onto Westmeadows Lane before it “did a 180”, mounted a kerb and drove through a fence and into a home.

“She’s panicked and driven straight into the house behind me here,” Sergeant told 7News

While the driver sustained a minor injury to her hand, Sergeant Bryan said it was lucky no fatalities had occurred.

“At 8.30am this morning, the weather was quite wet, there were people riding their bikes, children walking to school with their parents, so looking at what’s happened here today, we’re lucky that nothing more serious has happened here,” he said.

Paramedics from Ambulance Victoria assessed two people at the scene, however they were not transported to hospital.

Two others declined to be assessed.

The home’s owner, Ari Rana, told 7News that he was uninjured, adding that this wife had been at work at the time of the crash.

“You can’t do much. The thing (that’s) happened has happened,” he said.

Victoria Police is continuing investigations into the incidents and no charges have been laid.
