Search for father who fled crash with three children

Police are searching for a man who pulled himself and his three children from the wreckage of a car crash before fleeing the scene.

Police are still searching for a father who pulled his children from a vehicle and fled the scene of a crash at Menai in Sydney’s south.

Photographs show the wreckage left behind after a Mitsubishi ute and a Mazda sedan collided on a residential street about 1pm on Saturday, with witnesses reporting the man walked away with his three children shortly after the crash.

The ute was tipped on its side when the door opened and a man pulled himself out of the vehicle, taking his three kids with him as witnesses watched them walk away from the crash.

“As I was walking towards (the crash), I see a man and three younger children walking away,” witness Vahid Tabakol told 9News.

Others watched as the man “just kind of ran off with his kids”, witness Joy Zehar said.

Passers-by rushed to the assistance of the driver of the Mazda, a 43-year-old woman, and they stayed by her side until authorities arrived

She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, police confirmed.

Witnesses raised concerns for the children inside the ute who may require medical attention for concussion.

Police are still searching for the man who drove the ute.

“Investigations have commenced into circumstances of the crash and inquiries are continuing to locate the driver,” a police statement read.
