Police Crash Head-On With 'Dangerous Driver' After Machete Spotted in Car

A Queensland mother fighting for her life in hospital has reportedly woken from a coma after her husband and two of her children died in a “nightmare” car crash.

Krystal and Phil Harris were travelling with their two children on Dalby Jandowae Rd, Jimbour East, in Queensland’s Western Downs region about 11am on Monday when their sedan was crashed into from behind by a LandCruiser ute.
The family were travelling from their home in Jandowae to the nearby town of Dalby on a routine drive at the time.

The two children, Ocean, 15, and Warrior, eight, were in the back seat of the car and sustained critical injuries. Both died at the scene.

Their 54-year-old father was sitting in the front seat and was also declared dead at the scene.

Ms Harris sustained chest, abdominal and arm injuries, and was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A family friend told Daily Mail Ms Harris woke up from a coma on Tuesday and is expected to undergo back surgery.

The mother, who was conscious at the scene of the crash, is reportedly aware her husband and two children did not survive.

The family friend said the crash has been a “nightmare” for the family, as they struggle to come to terms with the incident.

According to The Chronicle, sources close to the investigation claim Mr Harris was reversing along Dalby-Jandowae Road to help a Western Downs Regional Council worker before their car was struck.

However, Ms Harris’ son Storm Reddacliff has disputed reports, claiming “was no reversing” involved in a post on social media.

“The ute [allegedly] rammed the car, killing them,” he wrote, as per the Daily Mail.

Mr Reddacliff described his family as the “shinning light” of his life in a GoFundMe he shared on social media.

“In memory of my beloved family, who tragically passed away in a car accident on Jimbour East road from Jandowae, I humbly ask for your support,” Mr Reddacliff wrote on the fundraiser.

“Your donation will help cover funeral expenses and support my wellbeing during this difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, will be deeply appreciated”

“My family was a shining light in my life, and their loss has left a profound impact on me. Your kindness and generosity will help me navigate this challenging period and honour their memory.”

The man behind the weheel of the LandCruiser ute was taken to Dalby Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit.

Police are urging Queenslanders to be careful on the roads, with more than 130 people dying so far this year.

“Can I please remind everyone that we have a significant challenge with our road toll this year,” Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said.

“People on the road need to obey the rules of the road and drive to the conditions.”
