Inside My Wardrobe

Georgia Love, 33, TV personality

In a time where streets and runways are ruled by oversized suiting and loafers, it is refreshing to tour a wardrobe filled with feminine dresses, colourful accessories and classic tailoring.

Welcome to Georgia Love’s closet, where her pyjamas are just as chic and treasured as her limited edition Amina Muaddi wedding heels.

The co-founder of the Georgia Elliott sleep and loungewear label cites Jackie Onassis as a style muse and has a penchant for Rebecca Vallance workwear, says day-to-day fits are flirty yet timeless and she has a dedicated shoe closet to ensure her classic combos are fresh.

What does style mean to you?

Showing your personality through what you wear. Anyone can chuck on what’s fashionable, but I see style as a person’s way of telling others who they are.

How would you describe your personal style?

I have a pretty girly style. I love dresses, skirts, frills and bows! And that definitely goes with my personality, too.

Who are your style icons?

I’ve always adored Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Onassis. Current day, I adore everything Kate Middleton wears.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

The oldest thing I still wear is my 21st birthday dress from Carla Zampatti. It – like everything from Carla – is so classic, I’ll probably have it forever.

What are your favourite brands?

Rebecca Vallance is probably my all-time favourite, I have so so many of her pieces from workwear to ballgowns and bikinis. I also love Aje and S/W/F for events, and Witchery and Forever New for day-to-day.

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

If anyone says they haven’t, they’re lying! Probably the most common is wearing something because it’s in fashion, even if it doesn’t suit me or isn’t my style. I’ve learnt as I’ve got older that just doesn’t work.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit?

My wedding outfit, for sure. The shoes (limited edition Amina Muaddi) alone were more expensive than any outfit I’ve bought!

How important is comfort when it comes to your everyday outfits?

If you’re uncomfortable, you won’t look good. It’s as simple as that. But I think the thing of the most importance is to feel comfortable in how you look, as opposed to the physical comfort levels. If you feel like you’re rocking an outfit, you will.

What is the most surprising thing about your wardrobe?

Probably how many pyjamas I have! I’ve been obsessed with sleepwear my whole life, I have three full drawers dedicated to PJs. As a result, my best friend and I started a sleepwear label a couple of years ago called Georgia Elliott. So now I can obsess over PJs all in the name of “work”.

Top three wardrobe must haves?

A great, warm coat that matches everything saves you from buying a heap of jackets or jumpers in those cold months. A good strapless bra, with emphasis on the “good”, there’s nothing worse than those nights you feel like you have to hitch your dress or top up all night. Invest in a good one and get it fitted properly. Also cute, comfy pyjamas. It kills me when people say they sleep in an old T-shirt and undies.
