Balloon baubles

The balloon bauble trend has well and truly taken over TikTok this Christmas, with Aussie mum @_ange_mckenzie_ taking to the app to show us all how it’s done.

“I actually really liked the way they turned out,” she said in the video.

“They almost have this velvet-y look to them, and they’re so pretty in their pastels.”

In the video, Ange heads to Kmart to purchase some baubles and balloons. Then, she begins the DIY, taking the caps off of the baubles before pulling the pastel balloons over the top, changing the colour whilst maintaining the textured look.

For all my colour lovers out there 🌈 Let’s make the viral balloon baubles that are making their way around the internets atm 😍 Plus (in my true style) a sliiightly distracted stop in another aisle to check out some nostalgic toys at @kmart australia We have an ongoing joke between myself and my kids. They place bets on how many items Im going to walk out of a shop with 🙈 The intention is always there to just buy one thing, but I end up walking out everything but the kitchen sink 😆 #lovetoshop #kmart #kmartfinds #kmartaustralia #diy #balloonornaments #balloonbaubles #diytutorials #easydiy #crafttutorial #diy #diychristmasdecor #homedecor

Commenters on the video were loving the hack.

“Obsessed! I’m having a pastel Christmas and it’s been hard to find baubles!” one commenter said.

“This is the first time I’m seeing this and what a genius idea,” another agreed.

Others said it could even come in handy for other colour schemes or holidays.

“Can reuse for so many events with different colours to like orange and black for Halloween colours for birthday etc,” said one commenter.

“running out to buy black balloons!!” said another.

Pipe cleaners make all the difference

Another way to switch up your tree this year is by using pipe cleaners.

Mum Lauren took to TikTok to share her hack, using pipe cleaners to attach baubles to one another for more impact, and a more bunched up look using decorations you already have.

“With these [hooks], you can only hang one ornament at a time, and they just dangle awkwardly,” she said.

“With a pipe cleaner, you can double them up, triple them up, and then tie them on securely onto your tree exactly where you need them.

“I just absolutely love how you can bundle them up. They just look so much better, and it definitely fills up the tree a lot easier.”

Commenters on the video couldn’t wait to try out the hack this Christmas.

“This is the most brilliant idea EVER!!! Thank you!!! BUT now I have to redecorate all the trees 🎄🎄🎄 😁😂😆😬” one said.

“Gorgeous Tree! Great tip!!!” another agreed.
