'That is HIGH END poultry!': Shoppers cracking up over Woolies pricing fail

“It’s a Labubu chicken. Limited edition.”

On a busy day, it doesn’t get much better than grabbing a Woolies roast chook for dinner.

They’re delicious, can be worked into so many easy meals, and they won’t set you back more than $12 - well, unless you’re this guy.

A Woolies shopper has taken to Facebook to share a hilarious mistake they came across at the supermarket, and commenters can’t get enough.

“Have you lost the actual bloody plot?”

A Facebook user from Mandurah in Western Australia has taken to the site to share an exorbitantly priced barbeque chicken they said they found at their local Woolworths.

“Woolies, mate… $275 for a roast chook?! Have you lost the actual bloody plot?” they wrote.

“I’m not paying nearly three hundred bucks for something that usually sits next to the reduced banana bread and smells like disappointment at 5:55pm.

“Is this a chicken… or a down payment on a Hilux?”

And, the jokes kept coming.

“This is Mandurah. We’ve got people here who’d trade a roast chook for a slab of Emu and still ask for change,” he wrote.

“At this point, I might just start a GoFundMe for a Woolies roast.

“Or better yet, chuck on a hi-vis vest and head to the closest traffic lights.

“Honestly, the only thing getting roasted around here is my bank account. Pull ya heads in, Woolworths. We just want some bloody chicken, not a mortgage.”

“That is most definitely HIGH END poultry!”

Commenters on the post thought the error - and the poster’s caption - were hilarious.

“I picked one up the other day for $245 but 275 a bit excessive,” one person joked.

“That's just the deposit…” said another.

“That is most definitely HIGH END poultry!” a third chimed in.

“It’s a Labubu chicken. Limited edition,” said another.

“That’s why you always get a receipt!”

There was some debate around where the image really came from - with some eagle eyed commenters pointing out a potentially Queensland-based store code on the chicken, which Woolworths confirmed to Kidspot was correct.

Others, however, said they’d experienced similar errors previously, reminding shoppers to be vigilant and check their receipts.

“It happened at Singleton WA the other day too!” said one person.

“That’s why you always get a receipt. I paid not that much, but it was $25,” said another.

“Happened in Carnarvon too, bloody useless computers,” a third added.

“And this is why you must always take and check your receipt,” another pointed out.

Woolworths confirmed that the incorrect label was picked up and quickly replaced.
