AS far as Instagram stars go, Stephanie Smith is one of our brightest, having lit up the social-media platform with her unique blend of biscuit-skin freshness, snap-happy yoga poses and red-carpet glamour.

The 22-year-old model from Melbourne has amassed a loyal following of more than one million, and recently secured ambassador roles with Myer Fashions on the Field and Clinique off the back of her fresh-faced aesthetic and undeniable influence.

“I’m usually the classic commercial girl-next-door, so it’s fun to be given an editorial makeover,” says Smith as she poses for Stellar in Clinique’s key summer looks and crisp all-white ensembles. “Messy dark eyes are a total departure for me.”

It’s hard to believe Smith was a novice when she first dipped her toe into the powerfully visual universe of social media. “I had no clue,” she laughs. “When Instagram first came out, I thought it was just a photo-editing app, until someone pointed out that my 10 filtered selfies were actually public!”

Given Smith’s preference for natural beauty online (“I’m more of a tinted moisturiser kind of girl”), it was a treat to be transformed for Stellar by Damian Garozzo, Clinique’s global colour pro artist who, before training with industry luminaries in Paris, grew up in Cairns.

Smith is determined to keep both her soaring Instagram and personal profiles just as transparent, and maintains she hasn’t let her explosive growth in the virtual world muddy cornerstone philosophies. “I keep it real, relatable and don’t let it take over my life. I also don’t post anything that I wouldn’t want to promote – young girls are impressionable and it’s a big no-no to get obsessed by body image too early. My mantra is ‘relax’.”
