IT was a money-can’t-buy experience worthy of a James Bond film. Six lucky competition winners and a group of celebrities were given a taste of the good life to mark the launch of The Sunday Telegraph’s Stellar magazine yesterday.

Hayden Quinn, Danielle Cormack, Anthony Minichiello and his wife Terry Biviano were among the group, which was whisked from Sydney to Milton Park in Sydney’s Southern Highlands by chopper for a day of “Stellar Sunday” indulgence.

Quinn, who contributes to Stellar’s bumper food section, admitted helicopters weren’t his usual mode of Sunday transport.

“It’s definitely not part of my usual Sunday,” he said.

“After seeing all the photos (of Milton Park) I think my girlfriend Jax (Raynor) is going to make me take her here.”

Quinn is just one of the celebrity chef contributors to the new glossy, with Matt Preston, Matt Moran and Silvia Colloca also sharing their favourite recipes, eating spots and food news with Stellar readers each week.

Stellar magazine editor-in-chief Sarrah Le Marquand, who hosted the event, said the day’s delights perfectly reflected what readers could expect from the new magazine.

“It’s filled with entertainment, news stories, lots of lifestyle content covering fashion, beauty, travel and then of course, it’s all about food ... It’s a core component of the magazine,” she said.

The first issue features an exclusive interview with supermodel businesswoman Elle Macpherson and a fashion feature starring Sigrid Thornton.

A sumptuous breakfast in the grand ballroom of Milton Park hotel was served before guests enjoyed games of croquet and tried their hands at laser pigeon shooting. Minichiello proved a natural with a rifle, telling Confidential:

“I did it in New Zealand with real guns and I did all right, but I was better this time around. I grew up on acreage — dad had licensed firearms so I grew up with it,”

the former Roosters captain said.

Melbourne mum Alison Williamson and her mother Dianne were among the winners of The Sunday Telegraph, NOVA’s Fitzy and Wippa and Myer’s Stellar launch competition, receiving gift vouchers and flights to Sydney to experience the Stellar Sunday.

Ms Williamson said she felt her mum Dianne deserved a luxury day of pampering after supporting her through life’s ups and downs. “She’s a stellar person in my life,” the Kinglake West resident said. “The day has been absolutely amazing; I can’t believe we’re here.”

The group was later taken to Sydney’s eastern suburbs for lunch aboard luxury yacht Kingland, as it toured Sydney Harbour.

Prisoner star Danielle Cormack, who is set to star in upcoming SBS drama Deep Water, joined the group for the harbour leg of the trip.

The day concluded with a performance by Australian rockers Thirsty Merc at a private waterfront mansion as the sun set.
