Nat Medhurst: I still owe mum some coffees — and everything else

NATALIE Medhurst is known for her efforts as one of Australia’s top netballers, but here’s some fun facts you didn’t know about the champion.

You’ve reached the upper echelons of Australian netball. How many hours did your mum spend driving you to practice?

Too many to count! Country kids do a lot of travelling, and we did eight-hour round trips to attend training camps.

Have you thanked her?

I still owe Mum a few coffees, but I would like to think I did an excellent job at making sure she stayed awake during the drives.

How many goals do you think you’ve shot so far?

I’ve put up my fair share.

We were in the high-school C-team, so our chances of going pro aren’t looking good. But maybe we could be in charge of halftime oranges?

Oranges aren’t high on the half time rotation, but we are always looking for some quality courtside ball kids … Keen?

Athletes are famous for goal-setting. What are yours? The next Olympics, Insta-fame or finding your 1995 GS bib in lost property?

I think, with my swimming abilities, the next Olympics are within reach. They do have the “survival stroke” in the Olympics, don’t they?
