Could Dannii Minogue be headed back to Summer Bay?

Following her sister Kylie’s return to Neighbours last year, Dannii Minogue has revealed the move has gotten her excited about acting all over again, saying her younger self “would never have imagined that the age I am now, 51, there would be roles available to me.”

If Dannii Minogue has a say in the matter, the pop singer would return to Home and Away in a heartbeat. In fact, Minogue is eager to do more acting in general after focusing on

music and presenting in recent years.

“It would be fun to revisit Emma Jackson on Home and Away for sure,” she tells The

Binge Guide of the role she played on the soap from 1989 to 1990.

“And, I guess in the acting space, something with comedy is the box I keep thinking

would be really nice to do something in. Let’s see what happens.”

Like the rest of Australia, the extended Minogue family was delighted to see Kylie

return to her mechanic’s overalls for last year’s Neighbours finale.

While the series was recently rebooted, Kylie – along with former boyfriend Jason

Donovan and Hollywood star Guy Pearce – were among the A List stars who took

time out of busy schedules to give the show an epic send-off when it was axed.

“It was not only a joy for Kylie but for us as a family,” Minogue says of her older

sister’s reappearance on Ramsay St.

“Because we were all in the same house when she was doing that because she was

a teenager.

“So, we were a part of it, you know? She’d be at home running scripts or heading off

to rehearsals. It was a big part of our world. She was dating Jason so Jason would

be around at the house. That was our world.”

Seeing Kylie return to Neighbours isn’t the only thing that has gotten Minogue

excited about acting again. She also feels empowered by recent shifts that she’s

seen in screen storytelling.

“When I was doing, [the 1992 movie] Secrets and Home and Away I would never

have imagined that the age I am now, 51, there would be roles available to me

because women just sort of dropped off and weren’t involved in series unless it was

a bit part as someone’s mum or grandma,” she reflects.

“But, I think now TV has gone through the most crazy changes, and it’s now a time

where it would be so exciting, and it would draw me back in because there are so

many possibilities of great roles.”

Minogue is proudly at the forefront of change in another space, reality TV.

As the host of I Kissed a Boy and its spin-off I Kissed a Girl which is currently in

production in Italy, Minogue is excited to be fronting the first queer dating show in

British history.

“And it’s about time,” she laughs.

Despite some opposition to the format from fans, Minogue is hopeful of fronting an

Aussie edition of the series, believing I Kissed a Boy has the potential to be a

globally popular format.

“Because it brings up a lot of conversations for people who are watching it, not only

within the queer community, but their friends, their families,” she enthuses.

I Kissed a Boy is streaming now on 10Play.
