If Sunday evenings have you feeling down about a new week ahead, it may be time to try these tips.

Before you can combat Sunday-itis – that feeling of dread before the start of a new work week – you need to know why you are feeling it.

Is it because you don’t like the people you are working with, or you feel you are under-appreciated or you work in a toxic environment?

If so, you need to be looking elsewhere and treating it as a temporary situation.

If that’s the case, spend your Sunday nights looking for jobs so you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Kickstart your week knowing your job application is out there while you go to work the next day.

If the Sunday-itis is a feeling of overwhelm about your job, write your weekly to-do list on Sunday night.

Then once you have the list, switch off and relax – read a book or watch Netflix.

It can also help to change how you think about what you do at work.

You are being paid to practice doing something and try new things and meet new people.

Instead of going to the job thinking “I don’t really like these things”, think “what parts do I like?”.

Give yourself something to look forward to every day of the week, even if it’s just your lunch break or an opportunity to study.

Remember, Sunday-itis can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. We fall into it.

Find something you enjoy and do it on a Monday – make Monday your favourite day.

Maybe you watch a movie on Monday night.

Maybe it’s the day you eat out.

You have got to design your week how you want it to make you enjoy it.

I have a routine on Sunday nights where I enjoy a bath and give myself a facial and relax.

Do whatever you need to get a fresh start on Monday.

If you think you should hate Sundays or Mondays, stay off social media.

People should really be excited about going to work because it means they are getting money that will pay for their bills and lifestyle.
