Shocking new claims confirm that the Queen was furious over Harry and Meghan's baby name

It was meant to be a sweet gesture by Harry and Meghan when they named their daughter after the monarch, but royal aides have now confirmed it was a very different story behind palace walls.

Queen reportedly ‘angry’ over Lilibet's name

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed that they named their daughter Lilibet, after Queen Elizabeth II, the world took it as a lovely tribute and a little peace offering after years of tension within the royal family.

Now, shocking new claims have come to light about what really happened when the former senior royal members confirmed their second child's baby name.

According to royal aides, the Queen was fuming over the fact that her grandson and wife took "the only thing" she owned in her life - her special nickname given to her by her father and affectionately used by Prince Philip and only those closest to her.

Harry and Meghan took the only thing she owned

According to Daily Mail, aides claimed that the former British Monarch didn't hide her real thoughts on the '"tribute", saying at the time: “I don’t own the palaces, I don’t own the paintings, the only thing I own is my name. And now they’ve taken that."

After their daughter's birth, Harry and Meghan confirmed that they had not only run the name past the Queen, but she was also humbled and supportive of the moniker.

"The duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement - in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called," a spokesperson confirmed at the time.

"During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name."

Their version of events upset the Queen further with staff claiming it was the most angry they had ever seen her.

What's more, knowing the tense conversations that were had at Buckingham Palace, royal aides have been left puzzled as to why Harry failed to mention the incident in his memoir, Spare.

Lilibet's 'special' name

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on June 4, 2021 in California, where the family now reside.

The name has a special meaning that relates to Harry's family.

Lilibet is the nickname that was given to Queen Elizabeth when she was a toddler and struggled to pronounce her own name. Her grandfather, King George V started the trend of calling her Lilibet, but it caught on and Prince Philip also used the nickname as a term of endearment.

The couple has said that she will go by 'Lili' and the Lily is of course a flower that is a symbol of innocence; purity and beauty.

Diana as a middle name is the perfect sweet tribute to Harry's mum without drawing the amount of unwanted attention that she might have gotten if they'd used it as her first name.
