She was already sitting in my seat and said, 'Oh - you want to sit here?'

The "entitled parent" had the audacity to take her seat without asking, in order to sit next to her kids on a flight.

We've all heard stories of parents on flights asking to switch seats with someone so they can sit next to their kids.

But a woman has recently taken to TikTok to explain how she found a mum already sitting in her seat, in order to sit next to her kids.

When she confronted the mum about it, her response was so entitled, she refused to let her stay there.

"I thought we could switch because these are my kids"

Taking to her TikTok, Tammy Nelson, CEO of a fidget jewellery brand, explained how when she boarded the plane, a mum was sitting in her window seat.

She writes: "I mentioned it to her and she looked shocked and said, 'Oh - you want to sit here? I thought we could switch because these are my kids'."

The mum then pointed to the two seats next to her to her kids who apparently looked about 11 and 15 years old.

Tammy replied, "As long as it's a window eat, I'm happy to switch."

Then, the mum pointed to the row behind them and says, "Mine is right there", gesturing to the middle seat.

"The mum would have been in arms-reach of both of them from there," she concludes.

"She continued to complain to the woman next to her for 15 minutes"

In the caption, Tammy clarified that she had slept for just "90 minutes" the night before and was flying to give a presentation to 500 people, so she "desperately needed some sleep."

Because of this, as well as the mum's entitled response, she refused to give up her seat.

She continued, "The mum proceeded to complain for at least 15 minutes to the person next to her loud enough for me to hear.

"But the woman actually defended me – several times. It was so kind and I appreciated it so much because I was feeling really guilty. 🤦‍♀️"

"The audacity of some people"

Just like that fellow passenger backed her up, so did all of the commenters.

"People should book seats together if they want to sit together," one person said.

Another wrote: "The amount of families who aren't paying to select their seats together is mind-blowing! You were 100 per cent right to not give up your seat."

A third said: "Don't feel guilty for standing up for your needs! And you weren't taking something that wasn't yours... It was rightfully your seat! Be strong."

Then a fourth chimed in saying, "I have kids and would never just assume. The audacity of some people."

"The audacity of some people"

Tammy later told Newsweek that she was grateful for everyone's support.

"People are fed up with people feeling entitled. Clearly, the woman just expected that I would make a change to meet her needs, not considering what she had done (or not done) that put her in that situation.

"She just expected me to flex my plans to suit her needs. There seems to be a growing trend of this entitlement in society and I think people are just sick of it."

Nelson added that while always important to "prioritise kindness" in life, she had to put her "need for rest" first.
