Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed she has a new boyfriend in Brisbane surgeon Reza Adib.
Dr Adib is the chief executive of the Brisbane Obesity Clinic and is a Surgeon of Excellence working out of the Wesley Hospital, a not-for-profit private hospital in the suburb of Auchenflower.
A spokesman for Ms Palaszczuk said: “The premier appreciates people’s interest and well wishes and asks that they respect the couple’s privacy.”
According to the clinic’s website, Dr Adib is a “leading Brisbane bariatric surgeon”.
He has performed over 20,000 operations and specialises in laparoscopic surgery, which allows doctors to examine inside the abdomen and is often used in the treatment of endometriosis, and obesity management.
He has studied in Australia, England, Scotland, France and Austria.
After returning to Brisbane in 2004 he started a private practice, and two years later established the Brisbane Obesity Clinic.
Ms Palaszczuk has previously been married to journalist George Megalogenis, from 1996 to 1998, and to political staffer Simon Every, from 2004 to 2009.
From 2015 to 2018 her partner was infrastructure adviser Shaun Drabsch.
