Perth bloke with stunning girlfriend declared ‘Australia’s luckiest man’

Jamo Lennon is your average Aussie bloke – but after snagging a “very beautiful” girlfriend, it’s left many asking: “How did you do it, bro?”

Aussie bloke with stunning girlfriend declared 'luckiest man alive'

“How did you do it, bro?”

“He’s punching hard.”

“Geez, he’s gotta be rich, or hilarious.”

These are just a few of the countless comments that Jamo Lennon receives daily on his TikTok videos.

One half of the wildly successful podcast, The Jamo & Dylan Show, Mr Lennon is no stranger to sharing his life online.

But there’s one aspect of it that his followers are particularly fascinated by: the fact that the Perth-based podcaster seems to be in a relationship with someone out of his league.

His girlfriend is fellow Perth-based content creator and influencer Grace Meredith, and while you might think the constant barrage of comments about his appearance would get to him, it actually doesn’t — and, ironically, Mr Lennon believes he might have contributed to the whole phenomenon himself.

‘I almost contributed to it’

Mr Lennon, 25, met Ms Meredith, 22, at a nightclub in Fremantle, WA, four years ago in what he describes as a classic meet-cute.

“She actually bumped into me at the bar and spilt my drink,” he tells news.com.au.

“We went to the bar together and got me another drink, and then I bought her the next drink, and then we danced the night away. We chatted for a couple of months, and then hung out a bit more, and then I asked her to be my girlfriend, and the rest is history.”

From the beginning, Mr Lennon says he was drawn to Ms Meredith’s energy and “aura”.

“Obviously, she’s a very beautiful girl — the most beautiful girl in the world,” he says. “So instantly, I was attracted to her, but mainly our personalities just hit it off.

“We had good banter and just great fun, and it proved to be the case every time we hung out with each other … we just had really good chemistry and the attraction was there from both sides pretty early on.”

He admits that the now-ubiquitous “you’re punching” comments – Aussie slang for dating someone perceived as more attractive — are something he “almost contributed to”.

“When we first started posting videos together, it would come in dribs and drabs. There would be people who would comment things like, ‘Why you, not me?’ or ‘This is a disgrace’ … some of them were pretty crazy,” he explains.

But as it turns out, Mr Lennon and his podcast co-host, Dylan, are the creators of the viral comedy series “Who’s Punching with Jamo & Dylan” — a tongue-in-cheek segment where listeners submit photos of themselves and their partners for a lighthearted “rating”.

“While it could sound a bit derogatory, we are a comedy and entertainment podcast,” he explains. “And anyone who submits photos has to sign a consent form to agree that it’s for entertainment purposes and they’re in a mental state to deal with the public’s criticism”.

The podcast’s TikTok account, where these segments are posted, has nearly half a million followers — and their videos consistently rack up hundreds of thousands of views, with many listeners weighing in on whether the hosts’ ratings are correct.

‘It’s Aussie culture. It’s taking the p**s’

Mr Lennon is the first to admit the irony of copping the same comments he dishes out on the show.

“As I’m the guy that does that on the internet, it’s a lot easier for people to say that about me, which I completely get,” he says.

“I know that for half of the people, it comes from a place of banter. And I understand it — it’s not every day you get to be with a beautiful person. I’m proud of it and I know I’m very blessed.”

He’s quick to stress that the “Who’s Punching” series is all in good fun, and that participants are fully aware of what they’re signing up for.

“It’s a lot of people sending them in saying, ‘Please roast us,’ because that’s part of the fun,” he says.

“It’s Aussie culture. It’s taking the p**s out of each other, and saying, ‘Life’s not that deep, so let’s all just have a laugh’.”

‘It doesn’t affect our relationship’

Despite the sometimes brutal comments, Mr Lennon says he and his girlfriend have learned to brush it off.

“Obviously, they’re not nice, but I deal with it quite well now,” he says.

“I think in the early days, maybe not so much. Obviously, if you’re seeing hundreds of comments with thousands of likes saying that you’re ugly, it’s not going to feel good.

“I didn’t want to film as many videos with her, purely for the fact that I was just getting rinsed in the comments of every video.”

But he says he’s learnt to remember that those comments are about purely superficial, physical things, and as a couple, they’re “very good together”.

Grace, for her part, finds the whole thing ridiculous.

“She just shakes her head and goes, they’re being silly. She thinks it’s crazy just how much hate we get as a couple because we are just a really fun, loving, Labrador-boyfriend type of relationship,” he shares.

A “Labrador” partner is a term that describes someone, often men, who has traits similar to a Labrador retriever dog, such as being friendly, happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and easygoing.

Mr Lennon says that while social media can be a harsh place, he’s developed a thick skin — so the comments no longer bother him.

“I know who I am. I’m pretty comfortable and confident in myself and I know that the people around me love me,” he shares. “So that helps”.

As for a message to the haters, Mr Lennon says, “Keep the comments coming, it’s good for engagement, cheers!”
