Awkward footage has captured the moment a man was confronted by a passer-by while secretly filming women on the street in San Diego, California.

The clip shows a man wearing Meta’s Ray-Ban AI glasses who appears to be flirting with a young woman that is unaware she is being filmed.

The $449 glasses, which launched in Australia in late 2024, not only record and livestream video but can also take calls, play music, and send text messages.

She begins by saying she has a boyfriend before the man, known as ‘rizzzcam’ star Christopher John, continues to ask her about the dating market.

Another man walking past in a plaid shirt then quickly intervenes saying, “camera” repeatedly while pointing to the smartglasses.

The woman can be seen making a quick escape as the situation between Mr John and the passer-by begins to escalate.

“I’ve been waiting for this,” says the local man as he tries to snatch the glasses away.

“Get out the way bro,” says Mr John as he attempts to back away.

“You're that dude right?” says the passer-by.

“You guys are creeping on those girls over here, that’s you right?

“Go to the other street out of respect for the locals,” he demands.

The clip was originally posted to Mr John’s social media page ‘rizzzcam’ that boasts over 900,000 followers.

In the caption, Mr John told his followers that this was how to effectively “de-escalate a situation.”

“Sometimes people will try to get a reaction out of you on stream – but the meat move is not to react at all. Stay grounded, stay calm,” he said.

Viewers were left divided over the footage which has gathered over 100,000 likes.

“He’s just jealous,” said one amused viewer.

“You’ve got self control figured out,” praised another.

“You handled that so well,” added a third.

Others were less than impressed.

“He was right to call you out,” said one.

“Wow are people finally realising that discreetly recording women with secret camera glasses is weird?,” questioned another.

“Put on a shirt and stop harassing people for terrible content,” said someone else.

“Finally, the harasser has become the harassed,” added another viewer.

This is not the first time the internet personality has come under the spotlight for his questionable street interviews.

Known for his shirtless ‘pick-up’ content and ‘point-of-view’ angles, Mr John often approaches women in public to ask them about dating.

Much of his content features women at the beach, on a night out or coming back from the gym.

Just last month, a Sydney woman spoke out after discovering she was secretly filmed by a man who she believes was wearing similar digital-recording sunglasses.

She initially thought little of the encounter. However, weeks later, a friend sent her a TikTok video revealing that their conversation had allegedly been recorded without her consent and posted online by a man who attempts to pick up women on the street.

In NSW, recording a conversation without all parties’ consent can carry a penalty of up to five years imprisonment.

The Surveillance Devices Act states that a person must not publish a private conversation that results, directly or indirectly, from an optical surveillance device.
