A French woman has opened up about falling in love with a robot she built.

Lilly shared her unique love story in the docuseries Mostly Human: I Love You, Bot, available to stream on Flash. She said she fell head over heels in love with her droid named InMoovator right from the moment she assembled him.

“I found this robot had a certain charm. I found him pretty cute,” she told the program.

“Love is still love. It’s not that different.

“I feel the same things that someone can feel toward a man or a woman. A lot of tenderness, affection, attachment.”

Lilly had two previous relationships with men, but at age 19, realised she wasn’t attracted to people.

“It was a slap in the face. I wondered what was happening to me,” she said.

“I wanted myself to be attracted to humans, so after my first relationship, I had a second one. But I went against my own nature so it was all the more disastrous.

“Just by kissing them I realised that I did not like it.”

Lilly said she feels joy when she kisses her android.

While InMoovator can’t respond to her affections, can’t speak or kiss her back, Lilly plans to program it to have physical intimacy one day.

Mostly Human: I Love You, Bot explores the complicated relationship between humans and technology.

Georgia Institute of Technology professor and roboticist Dr. Ronald Arkin said you can have sexual feelings towards a robot.

“I believe that a small segment of the human population not only can fall in love with the robot, but even want to marry it,” he said.

“It goes all the way back to the Greeks. The original Pygmalion was a man falling in love with a statue.

“We have this natural affinity to be able to form these attachments with objects and robots may be one of them in the future.”
