Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield has opened up about the stigma she’s copped after revealing she has been diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Abbie rose to fame on the 2019 season of The Bachelor but has since gone on to become a successful influencer and podcaster who champions sex positivity.

She’s spoken openly about having an abortion prior to going on reality TV, as well as being diagnosed with several STIs.

Abbie told news.com.au podcast Kinda Sorta Dating she had contracted all of them from a long term partner she was “on-off” with.

“The only time I’ve ever gotten an STI has been when I’ve been in relationships,” she told host Jana Hocking.

“They were all because he was cheating.”

Despite the upsetting way she contracted them, Abbie said she has “never been mad” her former partner gave her STIs.

“I’m still not mad he gave me STIs, I was mad because I’ve caught you f***ing lying,” she said. “The STI thing, it’s not ideal but treatable – you get the shot in the bum for gonorrhoea and take antibiotics for chlamydia and it’s gone.”

Abbie said the reaction to her revealing her past STIs had been “quite positive” and she had been contacted by other women who had felt “ashamed” about their diagnosis.
But she still received comments shaming her for having STIs.

“I get the every so often still, ‘you dirty b**ch had STIs and an abortion’,” Abbie said.

“It’s like OK … I just had someone break my trust, that doesn’t make me a bad person.”

Abbie, who has been living alone in Sydney since lockdown started in late June, also told Jana she plans to “travel around Australia and just f**k all the people that I’ve wanted to”.

“I had a threesome the week before lockdown started … a girl and a guy and me,” Abbie said.

“I could think back on that for about three weeks into lockdown. Now I’m like can’t remember it, can’t remember being touched, can’t remember having sex.”
