Ralph & Russo, the Australian designers who famously created Meghan Markle’s $100,000 engagement dress has gone into administration.
Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kylie Minogue are among the swag of celebrities that have turned to the design duo for jaw dropping red carpet gowns.
Princess Beatrice also sported a Ralph & Russo suit for sister Eugenie’s wedding in 2018.
Creative director Tamara Ralph and her then-boyfriend, Michael Russo, founded the luxe label 11 years ago and quickly made a name for themselves for their intricate glamour gowns.
In an announcement on Thursday morning they confirmed their business had been placed into administration.
“It is with great sadness that after 11 years we announce that Ralph & Russo has today been placed into administration. This difficult decision has been made to help ensure the company’s ongoing success and to restructure the business after the retail economy across the world has been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic,” they said.
“We’re incredibly proud of our unique position in the market as one of the world’s most exclusive luxury brands, achieved through sheer hard work, determination and a love for what we do.
“It is our intention that the business will continue to operate throughout this time, and we remain fully committed to supporting our incredibly loyal global clientele and our wonderful staff, who without which none of this would have been possible. With your support we remain full of hope and optimism for the future.”
Ralph recently gave birth to a daughter Haliya with businessman Bhanu Choudhrie, heir to one of India’s wealthiest families.
