RMIT CITY
Building 12, Level 2, 394 Swanston St, Melbourne
Little Bang Espresso serves matcha lattes along more traditional brews. Pick up a cheeky toastie or croissant too. Open weekdays, 7am till 5am.
RMIT Building 12, Level 4, 394 Swanston St, Melbourne
As the name suggests, Standing Room is for coffee on the go. Grab sweet and savoury treats for the road from the RMIT store, like a cookie or sandwich.
Garden Building, 10 Bowen Street, Melbourne
Treat yourself at Streat with two different coffee blends. There’s the social blend, with caramel, chocolate and plum, and the more traditional deluxe blend that tastes of dark chocolate, toffee, and dried fruit. There’s also a rotating Single Origin blend. Open weekdays 8am-4pm.
RMIT University, 124 La Trobe Street, Melbourne
You’ll find Pearson and Murphy’s Cafe in the heritage-listed Francis Ormond Building. The corner cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and there’s also catering available.
RMIT Building 80, 445 Swanston St (level 2 and 7), Melbourne
You’ll find these guys in the flash new Building 80, on Swanston St, on levels two and seven. Perfect for that afternoon pick me up (with sweet and savoury treats to tempt you). Open 7.30am-4pm, Monday to Friday.
OFF CAMPUS CITY CAFES
State Library of Victoria, 328 Swanston St, Melbourne
If you are in a rush you can order your coffee from Mr Tulk via their pre-order app and collect from the cart. There’s plenty of cafe staples to choose from. Open 7.30am- 5pm Monday to Thursday, 7am-7.30pm Fridays and 9am-4.30pm on weekends.
6 Franklin St, Melbourne
You may feel like a coffee and muffin, but have you tried coffee served in a muffin? Poolhouse Coffee has you covered. Located in the Melbourne City Baths building.
5 Little La Trobe St, Melbourne
These guys know their bread and butter — sourdough crumpets, spread thick with cultured butter and topped with your choice of preserve. Team with a Wood & Co coffee and you’ve got a lecture-ready breakfast. Open weekdays: 6.30am-2.30pm.
12 Drewery Ln, Melbourne
Find Little Rogue inside the blue door next to the white cat down Drewery Lane. Inside you’ll find coffee, cakes and snacks.
RMIT BRUNSWICK
Building 514, Level 1, Brunswick
This is more of a one-stop canteen with all your favourites: salads, pies, pastas, curries and milkshakes.
OFF CAMPUS CITY CAFES
115 Sydney Rd, Brunswick
An all-day breakfast menu awaits at Green Refectory, packed with eggs, scrambled tofu, pancakes and porridge. There’s also lunch and dinner available. St Ali beans are on the coffee machine.
15-17 Weston St, Brunswick
Espresso, pour-over, single origin and cold brew — Code Black champions all coffee styles. Spot the state-of-the-art roaster at their Brunswick flagship store. Open daily, 7am-5pm.
274 Barkly St, Brunswick
Wide Open Road roasts its own coffee onsite. There’s all-day brunch, packed full of vegan and organic options. There’s also three espresso and two filter coffee choices. Open 7am-4pm Monday to Saturday and 8am-4pm Sunday.
32 Union Street, Brunswick
There’s plenty of choice at Acustico — breakfast, toasties, salads and baguettes. Open 7am-4pm Monday to Thursday, 7am till late Friday, 8am-4pm Saturday and 9am-4pm Sunday.
126 Union St, Brunswick
Clark Street Roasters are behind all of Miss Marmalade’s coffee. Open 7am-4pm weekdays.
1/34 Union Street, Brunswick
You’ll find this cafe near Jewell Station. Hop off the train and make a beeline for the bagel menu (with vegan options). Dog-friendly.
Shop 14, Sparta Place , 459 Sydney Road, Brunswick
This is a quiet, cosy cafe found in Brunswick’s Sparta Place. These guys roast their own Moose Espresso, Senz Ibrato decaf and White Dog beans. Open 8am-4pm weekdays, 8am-1pm Saturdays.
