OFF-LEAD PARKS IN PAKENHAM, SURROUNDS
Don Jackson Reserve
107-121 Ahern Rd, Pakenham
This expansive green space is the perfect place to let the dogs run free. There’s seats in the shade, a playground for the kids and drinking fountains.
Toomuc Creek Linear Reserve
Princes Hwy, Pakenham
The off-leash Toomuc Reserve has a football oval, baseball pitch and athletics track and is home to several sport clubs. There’s even a BMX track and outdoor athletics area.
Alma Treloar Reserve
73 Healesville – Koo Wee Rup Rd, Cockatoo
Find this lush reserve on the foothill of the Dandenongs. It has plenty of green space for your pet to run amok. There’s also a nearby playground and is also home to the Cockatoo Country Market on the first Saturday of the month.
Cochranes Park
255 Rossiter Rd, Koo Wee Rup
Locals describe Cochranes Park more as a precinct over a park, as it has a swimming pool, bowling green, tennis courts, community centre and skate park on site. There’s also a playground for kids.
Garfield Recreation Reserve
Fourteen Mile Road, Garfield
The off-lead dog park is found south of the sport oval. There’s two playgrounds — the Rotary Park playground and another fully-fenced playground opposite, covered by shade-sails.
Hammerwood Green
Tantallon Bvd, Beaconsfield
This park is off-leash but not fenced, so make sure you keep an eye on your pooch. The park is in suburban Beaconsfield. There’s benches, a basketball hoop and small playground.
Pepi’s Land
16 Beaconsfield-Emerald Rd, Emerald
Cardinia Shire Council is injecting $1.9m into redeveloping Pepi’s Land into a recreation space. The 25-hectare parcel will get a new netball pavilion, including four courts, lights, coach box, line marking and fencing. It’s expected to be completed in late 2020. The area is currently off-leash for dogs.
Greenfield Lane Dog Park
23 Greenfield Lane, Pakenham
Also known as Cockatoo Rd Reserve, locals love taking their dogs to this off-leash park. The area is fenced, has benches but is largely without shade and there’s no water taps.
