International travellers have a luxurious new pre-flight sanctuary at Adelaide Airport with the official opening of the Plaza Premium Lounge.
The 137-guest pay-as-you-go lounge for passengers on international departures features a wine installation showcasing award-winning Australian wines and nature-inspired art by South Australian artists.
Its design incorporates natural stone, marble, granite and travertine, timber, a raked render finish throughout, and a selection of contemporary feature lighting and furniture.
Guests enter via the wine corridor opening into the lounge space divided into multiple zones with a bar, dining area and workspaces. Showers are available.
The lounge costs one adult $39 for one hour and $71 for two hours – with a child aged 2-11, the cost rises to $66.30/hour or $120.72/two hours. Children under two are free.
The entry fee covers food and alcohol.
It is the Plaza Premium Group’s (PPG) fourth location in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and the first dedicated international common-user lounge at Adelaide Airport since the present terminal was opened in 2005.
The lounge was opened by PPG founder and chief executive Song Hoi See and Adelaide Airport managing director Brenton Cox.
“We are delighted to be the first and only independent international lounge at Adelaide Airport offering departing and transit passengers their own lounge to relax before flying just steps from departure gates,” Mr Song Hoi See said.
“Our lounge sets a new standard of offerings, welcoming guests to experience our award-winning service among local touches of South Australia. We cater to all types of flyers, including families, business and leisure travellers.”
Mr Cox said the lounge is “one of the final pieces of our $200m terminal expansion project that has also seen a significant upgrade of our international arrivals and departures facilities including expanded duty free, more room for immigration processing and more baggage belts for arriving passengers”.
The latest development comes as Adelaide Airport officials pursue ambitious plans to fly direct to some 40 international cities by 2050.
Members of the Smart Traveller airport membership program receive a 20 per cent discount on entry, the lounge can be accessed by Priority Pass and LoungeKey members and various multi-city passes are available.
The Hong Kong-based Plaza Premium Group has facilities in more than 70 international airports across the world.
