Parents left shocked over X-rated detail spotted on Wicked doll packaging

Well, this is going to create magic of a different kind, isn't it?

Parents Shocked by X-Rated Detail on Wicked Doll Packaging!

Toy company Mattel has made headlines for a major - and rather awkward -  blunder on one of their new toy items that has no doubt already been put on your child's Christmas wish list.

You just might want to turn it over and read the back of the packing before you place it in your shopping trolley.

The toy giant's new Wicked dolls, to celebrate the release of the new film, have come with a not-so-family-friendly surprise and it has parents tossing them back onto the shelves quicker than you can say "Defying Gravity."

X-rated printing error on kid's toy

Shoppers discovered that the merchandise for the highly-anticipated flick features an unfortunate printing error in the URL posted on the back of the packaging.

Instead of the official Wicked movie site (WickedMovie.com), the URL directs people to an X-rated pornography site.

“Hey @Mattel whoever is responsible for your marketing/packaging for the new official Wicked dolls have made a HUGE mistake!” someone flagged on X, formerly Twitter.

Needless to say, the post was followed up with a bunch of parents who were truly shocked by such a big error, with one suggesting it could possibly be the "biggest fail in merch history."

"That's an insane oversight, someone getting fired lol," someone commented.

"Whoever did the Mattel Wicked Dolls packaging is COOKED," another agreed.

And another chimed in with: "An error of this magnitude is unacceptable."

Nope, definitely not the kind of magic they had in mind.

Wicked warning ahead of film release

It's not the first time Wicked has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons ahead of the film release.

Just last month, Tori Calamito from @theozvlog issued a warning to parents about the contents of the original book.

Whilst the new film, like the musical, is child-friendly and will be PG-rated, the book features a host of mature themes, making it "inappropriate" for readers under the age of 18.

Wicked is most popularly known as a musical prequel to The Wizard of Oz, premiering on Broadway back in 2003. However, it’s loosely based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

It's this adaptation that the content creator takes issue with, remembering her own brush with it as a child.

“They’re going to go home and read this, and they’re going to have a lot of questions for their parents,” she said in a TikTok video.

Though she didn’t discourage young readers entirely, adding that if asked, she would let her own daughter read the novel with the added ability to ask her questions when necessary, Calamito said it’s important that parents are aware of its contents before making the purchase.

'Wicked' is in cinemas on November 21, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as witches Glinda and Elphaba.
