Parents concerned over YouTube Bluey scam

The channel, which currently has over 60 thousand followers, posts videos described as ‘Daily Family Friendly Roblox Videos’. Except they're anything but...

Uhmeagle was a mistake: Our horrifying experience

Everyone knows that YouTube can be an incredibly dangerous place when it comes to children's content.

Whilst you can monitor your child, and constrict what they’re viewing through certain settings, it’s incredibly easy for you or them to stumble across something that looks kid-friendly - but really isn’t.

One dad has taken to Facebook after uncovering his three-year-old watching something disturbing, and he’s calling for change.

“It all looks like harmless video game streaming until you stop and watch it”

A dad of a three-year-old has taken to the Adult Bluey Fans Facebook group after finding his child watching disturbing content using the likeness of their favourite Bluey characters.

“Does anyone know how to contact the actual show/producers to report possible IP infringement and child endangerment?” he said in the post.

“There is a YouTube Channel called Puppy Buddies 2 that uses the likeness of Bluey and Bingo in very misleading ways that seem to almost purposefully be targeting children with intent to influence dangerous behaviors. Videos with talks of death, being killed thousands of times, jumping off ledges, going down into sewer drains to help someone out of a cage, etc etc.”

The channel, which currently has over 60 thousand followers, posts videos described as ‘Daily Family Friendly Roblox Videos’. These videos, of which there are currently 90, each over three hours long, depict primarily Bluey and Bandit in the video game Roblox.

Video titles include, ‘Roblox Kidnap Story’, ‘Eating My Friends in Roblox’, and ‘Becoming a Max Level Criminal in Roblox’.

“It all looks like harmless video game streaming until you stop and watch it,” the man continued in the post.

“We noticed our 3 year old talking a lot about death lately and thought it was just a weird 3 year old thing until it didn’t stop.

“We started brainstorming where he would have picked this up and then my wife mentioned the weird bluey video game channel. I investigated that channel for maybe 5 minutes and it was glaringly obvious that was the issue.”

The dad said he’d already reported the channel to YouTube, but asked for advice on what more he can do to get rid of it for good.

“I’ve already reported the channel to YouTube and plan on digging a little further to make a more formal complaint but would greatly appreciate if anyone has insight, experience or knowledge on how to take this to the shows attention and throw everything possible at this channel,” he wrote.

“With the name ‘Puppy Buddies (2)’, I can’t help but think they’ve maybe been flagged before.”

“I don’t want my kids finding this”

Parents in the post’s comments were equally as concerned about the distressing content, saying there’s plenty like it on the platform.

“YouTube is literally the worst thing for kids. Even kids YouTube doesn’t monitor the content. There are paw patrol videos in sexual situations all over it,” said one commenter.

“Stuff like this has been going on for years with other shows like paw patrol too,” another agreed.

“My son was watching this! Never snatched the remote so fast,” said a third.

“Yeah, that’s scary. I don’t want my kids finding this,” another person said.

“Just scroll and move on”

However, others said it was no big deal, adding that it’s a parent’s responsibility to monitor what their child is watching.

“They are a parody channel and openly state so in their description. It is a parents job to monitor what their children watch. They aren’t technically doing anything wrong with their content and should not be reported,” one commenter said.

“Just because you don't like a video doesn't mean it should be taken down. Just scroll and move on,” another agreed.
