'Yuck': Why this clip of a mum and her son's behaviour has parents upset

"This is the most Aussie thing I've ever seen!"

Swearing kid clip makes people mad

In a short TikTok post that has since been viewed over 10 million times, a mum shares the difference between what it is like to have a sweet baby and a cheeky primary school aged kid.

But the funny video has since ignited a firestorm of feedback, as TikTokkers weighed in with their thoughts on whether her primary school aged son’s behaviour was acceptable.

Samantha Harrison, a Melbourne hairstylist who specialises in hair extensions and education, shows a short video of her baby with the words ‘nothing prepares you for when your baby boy turns into a…’overlayed onto the clip.

The next short video is of her son a few years later labelled as a ‘lad’ saying to camera “f#$k off bumhole” as she laughs in the background.

'I told him he could swear'

For context, Samantha wrote in the caption that this swearing outburst had been under some direction from her.

‘I told him he could say one swear word without getting into trouble and this is what he chose.’

He clearly thought long and hard about maximum impact with that unique phrase that delivers quite the impact.

The mum’s post and her reaction to her cutie's potty mouth moment, quickly garnered attention, amassing 6,240 comments from opinionated TikTokkers.

While the clip is clearly intended for laughs, the many thousands of comments did not all agree.

"Charming"

“Wow, yuck,” says one disapproving user.

“Charming, great parenting,” writes another with an assumed sense of irony.

One even believes that his swearing, even though allowed by his mum, deserves severe punishment: “Ummm no.. spanking is needed.”

"This is too funny man!"

Some found the criticism ridiculous and felt the little boy and his mum were just having fun.

"His little smirk after he said it really tied it together," one user who could see the funny side commented.

"This is too funny man!" Another felt similarly: "Love his choice of words. If I got to choose, it would be the exact same thing!"

And a different user felt maybe the fact so many people failed to see the funny side was down to cultural misunderstanding.

“This is the most Aussie thing I’ve ever seen,” the cheeky TikTokker quipped.
