‘On the last day of our baby’s life, she got a visit from the Wiggles’

“Doctors removed her breathing tube so she could have one last day with family, and then she became an angel,” the devastated mum reveals.

The Wiggles Lucia Field and Lachlan Gillespie made a little girl’s wish come true when they performed by her hospital bed the day before she died.

Zahra was a vibrant little toddler, and although she was dying from a rare syndrome, she found the energy to smile and dance along from bed to Twinkle Twinkle as Lachlan, Lucia and Dorothy the Dinosaur serenaded her.

The little girl was facing her last days, and her family is grateful The Wiggles brought some joy to her short life.

Zahra suffered from Leigh Syndrome, a rare mitochondrial disease which robs the body’s cells of energy, eventually causing multiple organ failure, and in Zahra’s case, death.

The little girl’s mum posted the video to TikTok, and it’s been viewed over 1.5 million times.

“On Zahra’s last day she got a special visit from her fav Wiggles,” her mum captioned the video.

The next day, on June 14, Zahra was gone.

“This day was so special to us,” her mum wrote.

“Zahra was obsessed with the Wiggles and for them to come and see her is a memory we will never forget.”

“Lachy and I were so grateful to have met your beautiful family,” Blue Wiggle Lucia Field responded. “May your beautiful little girl be happily resting.”

Followers were heartbroken over the family’s loss, and the performers’ kindness.

“I can’t handle it,” one person wrote. “I’m so sorry… my heart breaks for you.”

“I’m crying, such a beautiful moment,” said another. “Thank you for sharing mama. I’m so sorry for your loss.”

Mum starts TikTok to grieve toddler

Zahra’s mum started her TikTok account to raise awareness for Leigh Syndrome, and to grieve her baby.

In another video, she shared how the family discovered something was seriously wrong with their little girl.

“On April 4 our lives changed forever,” she wrote.

“Zahra was taken to emergency because she was going blue in her sleep. She was rushed for an MRI. They found inflammation on her brain stem.”

After a week in the ICU, things seemed to be improving and the family was sent home.

But then she began to decline. Breathing and swallowing were a struggle and her parents took her back to hospital.

A month later they had their diagnosis: Leigh Syndrome.

“We were told she wouldn’t make it off the breathing tube,” her heartbroken mum shared.

Zahra’s mum didn’t explain the decision to remove the breathing tube, but on June 13, it was removed.

Zahra was awake and alert, spending time with family and enjoying her private Wiggles concert before passing away the next day.
