A young boy’s mother saved his life with her quick actions after he was bitten by a venomous snake on a rural Queensland property

A little boy was rushed to hospital after being bitten by a brown snake in regional Queensland.
But helicopter rescue service RACQ LifeFlight Rescue say it was his mum’s quick thinking which saved his life.
The boy had been playing outside his home on a property in Bundaberg, when he was bitten on the left foot.
“His quick-thinking mother, who recognised her son had been bitten by a venomous snake, rushed him to a nearby health facility,” a statement from RACQ LifeFlight Rescue said.
Staff at the facility treated him using a pressure immobilisation technique while waiting for the rescue crew to arrive.
The Bundaberg rescue helicopter was called into action just after 10:30 yesterday and transported the boy to hospital after picking him up at a nearby airstrip.
A LifeFlight Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic stabilised the boy for the journey to a hospital in Bundaberg.
While in the air the rescue crew tried to calm his tears and to ease his worries with rescue teddy bear.
He was flown to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a stable condition, with his mum as an escort.
