Mum paid two kids from 'bad area' to beat up her child's bully

Most parents would at least think about going to extreme lengths to avenge their kids who've been hurt by someone. 

But a woman has now revealed how her own mum acted upon her instincts and paid two other children to scare her tormentor.

"Beat up my bully"

Posting in the Petty Revenge subreddit, the woman shared an incident from her childhood when her mum came to her defence and paid two other kids to "beat up her bully".

In a since-deleted post (obviously as it discusses violence against children), the woman explained that she was in the third grade and being bullied by a kid in the same class who also lived in her neighbourhood.

One day, she watched a girl “fly across the room” at school, and informed her mother, who called Child Protective Services (CPS). The students involved, including her future bully, were taken away but soon returned to their parents.

She wrote: “Well, when he got back he somehow found out my mum called CPS, so at the bus stop before school he sucker punched me, I was down on the ground.

“Everyone saw it but didn't say anything to anyone. Our teacher happened to be a close friend of my mum and her husband works with my dad so if I said something my parents would've found out instantly.”

Though the OP didn’t inform their parents, someone else did. She revealed that her mother went to the “worst area” of Detroit and paid two kids $20 each to beat up the boy who punched her daughter.

"Now this is a mob story I can get behind"

There were many in the comments who were impressed with the "bad ass" mum, likening her to a mafia boss ordering a hit, and admitting they too would go Mama Bear in response (in theory).

"Damn she literally hired them for their first mercenary job," a reader commented.

Another wrote: "Now this is a mob story I can get behind. Your mum is a bad ass. You also did the right thing trying to help that family."

A third added, "Your mum is a GOAT."

Most parents shared that they encourage their children to report any negative interactions and allow the school and the parents to sort things out.

But many others didn't believe the story at all, as they couldn't imagine an adult hurting another child in this way (not matter the angry feelings in defence of their child).

"Your mum just found two 5th graders hanging out in the bad part of Detroit presenting themselves as goons for hire?" one questioned.

Another noted that there was room for empathy for the child: "I feel so bad for the bully. Bullies often come from families like that. And the CPS just failed its job as they brought them back to that abusive home?"
