After two years of hard work and months of nervous anticipation, the long wait for Victoria’s Year 12 students is finally over.
A total of 45,565 students received their Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) and final results at 7am this morning – and for 37 students, a top ATAR of 99.95 was reached.
Students who completed their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) are now able to access their final grades.
More than 50,000 students completed their VCE in 2019, while upward of 24,000 students were enrolled to attain their VCAL certificate.

The most important fact about the ATAR: Your ATAR does not define you.
— VTAC (@vtacguide) December 11, 2019
It is simply a tool used by tertiary institutions for a specific purpose: getting you into a course. It doesn't reflect who you are, does not determine your capabilities and is not a measure of your worth.
While today is a cause for celebration for many students, the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) took to social media with an important reminder for those who might be feeling disappointed with their final score.
“The most important fact about the ATAR: your ATAR does not define you,” they tweeted this morning.
“It doesn’t reflect who you are, does not determine your capabilities and is not a measure of your worth.”
HOW TO ACCESS YOUR RESULTS
The VCAA and VTAC offer students four options for accessing your VCE results and ATAR:
• Internet: The results and ATAR site will go live from 7am on Thursday, December 12 and will remain available until 5pm on Monday, December 16.
Students need to register for the site before they’re able to log in.
To do so (and to register for the app), you need to enter your VCE student number and the password you created when registering for the service.
After the site becomes unavailable, your ATAR can be accessed through your VTAC account.
• App (VCE Results and ATAR): VCE results and ATAR will be available via the VCE Results and ATAR app from 7am on Thursday.
Students will need their VCAA number and secure password of their choice to view their results and ATAR.
The VCE Results and ATAR app is free and available to download in the App Store for iOS and on Google Play for Android users.
• By mail: VCE and VCAL results and ATAR statements will arrive in the mail from Thursday, December 12.
VCE and VCAL certificates are distributed by schools and colleges, not mailed with final results.
• Email (VCE and VCAL results only): Students with a Unit 3 and Unit 4 enrolment and who have opted to receive their results via email will receive them from 7am on Thursday, December 12.
Schools were advised that the address nominated needs to be active and accessible by the student during the release of results on Thursday until information regarding the Premier’s VCE Awards in April 2020.
