"These kids are five, they don't give a sh*t"

British mum Victoria Emes's relatable clip on TikTok has been viewed almost a million times, and parents all over the world are loving her for it.

"Can we bring back just a really basic b*tch birthday aesthetic?" she begins in a voiceover on the clip of a very pretty, but simple, party set up.

"Just f*ck off with your balloon arches and themed birthday parties. These kids are five, they do not give a sh*t. Some crisps in a bowl is all you need to do."

Victoria suggests adding carrot and cucumber stick and corn cobs "if you feel like being fancy."

"Let's take the pressure off having this perfect, magical birthday party. The kids are gonna get off on sugar and run around like little twats, regardless.

"Put some nuggets in the oven, let's get back to the simplicity of the pre-social media birthday parties and give ourselves a break."

I was asked what my kid's party theme was, I said 'birthday'."

Viewers of Victoria's clip loved her refreshing take.

"Someone asked me what my kid's party theme was, I said 'birthday'," one wrote.

This mum agreed, saying, "I’m sorry but that aesthetic is sooo much nicer than the themed Insta parties!! I agree, retro old school birthdays are the best!!"

And this person noted, "I think most kids birthday parties these days aren't for the kids. It's for the parents and dare I say egos *looks at IG Mummies and celebs*."

But there were a few naysayers, one of whom said they were "Healing their inner child" by throwing extravagant parties, and this one who claimed, "No because my kids love it, it's a tradition to ask what theme they want, it doesn't have to be pricey either."
