It was supposed to be a lovely holiday to the Gold Coast for a Victorian family, but it ended in tragedy.
On Sunday evening, a two-year-old fell into the hotel pool at Mark Holiday Apartments at Surfers Paradise.
The child’s mother jumped in the water to save the toddler, but she also couldn’t swim, so her husband and father entered the water after her.
Although the two men, aged 38 and 65, managed to get the woman and the toddler out of the water, tragically they didn’t make it out of the pool themselves and drowned.
Paramedics rushed to the scene to find the two men unconscious in the water.
Together with an off-duty doctor, they performed CPR on the men, but they couldn’t save them.
