Millennial told by Gen Z clubber his dance moves proved his age

A TikTok user has revealed how an interaction at a club left him questioning his age after he was told his moves gave away what generation he was from.

A TikTok user has been stunned after he was told that his dancing was “giving away his age” - leading some to call out the behaviour of his dancing companion.

Gus was at a club dancing with a girl when she turned to him and asked him if he knew that his dancing gave away that he was a Millennial.

“She said to me ‘you keep putting your hands up’,” he said, adding he would throw his arms up and whoop.

He said she told him to stop, and the sudden realisation dawned on him that his mother did the same when she danced.

But, he couldn’t stop the dance move, repeatedly throwing his hands up and whooping as he moved around on the dance floor.

“She would like put my arms down and I realised I was too old to be in the club,” the American man told his TikTok followers.

Social media users were shocked by the interaction and the declaration handed down by the young clubber.

“We were literally instructed to put our hands in the air like we just don’t care. It’s our legacy,” one social media user commented.

“Being a Gen Z sounds exhausting,” another commented.

Another said: “Wait are the babies dancing with their hands in their pockets orrrrr??”

One added: “Gen Z really speedrunning the whole experience and becoming a boomer at lightspeed.”

“I’m a Gen Z and I dance with my arms up,” one confessed.

“You don’t need that kind of negative energy around,” one social media user commented bluntly on Gus’ retelling of the event.

Another called out the young woman’s behaviour, saying; “Imagine feeling the music through your body, happily and someone says to change your dancing style bc you’re showing your age?? Nooo!”
