There’s a quirky new cocktail in Melbourne that looks like it’s come straight from the hospital emergency department.
The IV drip cocktail by Grand Lafayette in Prahran is among the many weird and wonderful food and drink creations this city has to offer.
Thought this was bizarre? Here are some other wacky food and drinks to try on your next night out.
IV DRIP COCKTAIL
Grand Lafayette, Prahran
This head turning cocktail is quite a novelty at Prahran’s Grand Lafayette.
Cafe co-owner Solar Liang was inspired to design the cocktail after wondering what sick people would like to drink. “People say the best medicine is tequila,” he said. The Witch Antidote cocktail is made from strawberry, lime, blueberry, apple and blackcurrant, and either smoking tequila or Japanese yuzu. The drink can be served without alcohol so kids can enjoy the spectacle. One drip will set you back $15.80.

Make sure you order this concoction at Grand Lafayette before your ‘antidote’ cocktail.
The Mimosa Poison, made with Blue Curacao, lemonade, sparkling wine, infused with apple wood.
You’ll also get a ghoulish ‘eyeball’ garnish, made from lychee and blueberries.
SPAGHETTI GELATO
Madame Gelato, Port Melbourne
This Port Melbourne venue claims to be the first and only dedicated spaghetti gelato bar.
Spaghetti gelato is a sweet treat emulating the Italian staple.
Choose from three dishes, including the ‘Chris P Bacon’— a vanilla spaghetti gelato, powdery bacon dust, crispy bacon bits and peanut butter drizzle.
CHEESEBURGER SPRING ROLL
Jamu, Richmond
The cheeseburger spring roll has been a signature at the Hawthorn footy player James Frawley and Isaac Smith’s Richmond venue since opening earlier this year.
Make sure you order a side of these next time you visit.
MAC AND CHEESE TACO SHELLS
Third Wave, Port Melbourne
When you can’t get enough cheese in your tacos, you should try Third Wave Cafe’s newest creation — tacos made from cheese and mac and cheese shells.
There’s two to sample, including one loaded with slow smoked American BBQ brisket, guacamole, cheese, tomato salsa and housemate BBQ sauce.
The other swaps brisket for pulled pork.
DOUGHNUT BURGER
Monroe’s Burgers, St Kilda
Love hamburgers and doughnuts? Now you can get your fix in one place at Monroe’s Burgers. The Homer burger is made from beef, bacon and cheese — topped with an iced doughnut bun. This dish was used to promote the St Kilda stores’s opening earlier this week.
