Jaw dropping Godfather chicken parma weighs in at 1.2kg

THIS massive chicken parma is the Godfather of the pub classic. And if you finish it in 20 minutes, you eat for free. But can it be done? Watch our video to find out.

The Godfather of parmas

DON’T get yourself into a flap, the Godfather of all chicken parmigianas is here.

The pub classic has taken flight at Irish Murphy’s in Geelong with a big twist.

This monster parma is made from a whole chicken, deboned, butterflied and crumbed to perfection.

The 1.2kg whopper caught the attention of ‘millions’ on Facebook when pub owner Tom Ward posted a photo of his new menu item last night.

“It’s about 5cm thick, has 200gms of cheese and a fair few slices of ham,” he said.

“This thing could feed a family of five.”

The Herald Sun’s Aaron Langmaid even struggled to eat his way through it.

Mr Ward said some people were even willing to travel from Canberra to score a bite.

“There was a group of girls wanting to drive down from Canberra to take part,” he said.

“It’s gone viral.”

Irish Murphy’s will launch the Godfather, with five lucky people already reserving their place at the dinner table, on Tuesday night.

Participants in the Godfather challenge need to give the pub two days notice so they can prepare.

“Unfortunately we haven’t got enough ovens to cook more than five chickens,” he said.

“We also have to order them from our butcher. It all takes time.”

Those who polish off the meal under 20 minutes eat for free.

“Once the meal lands on the table, we’ll get the timer and do a countdown,” Mr Ward said.

“We will start out at five (chickens), but will aim to serve about 10 (Godfathers) each night.”

“We normally sell 150 normal chicken parmas a night,” he said.

Irish Murphy’s will only serve the Godfather on Tuesday nights, with plans to expand to other days in the future.

The $35 dish comes with chips and salad.

Mr Ward has also cleared the air on the correct slang for the chicken parmigiana.

“We get a bit of flack, but it’s called a parmy, not a parma. It’s settled,” he said.
