FROM bare midriffs to skin-tight mini-dresses, grid girl uniforms were a staple of Melbourne’s Formula One Grand Prix for years. Here’s a look back at some of the outfits they sported in Australia.

Grid girls will be a thing of the past.

IT’S the end of the era for grid girls at Formula One events with the eye-candy being stripped from the raceway.

Across the globe the women who once waved the flag at F1 races are hanging up their heels as part of a move to bring the sport more in line with community values.

New F1 owner Liberty Media has made the bold move to keep the focus on the skill on the track, not the models on the sidelines, when the season gets underway.

So before they disappear, here’s a look at the Australian Grand Prix outfits over the years.
