Commuters discover Melbourne’s public transport looks like Shapes packaging

It’s the delicious comparison blowing up social media, with eagle-eyed commuters in Melbourne spotting some uncanny similarities between our new trains, trams and buses and an iconic Aussie snack.

How do Australia’s train networks compare to one another?

Eagle-eyed commuters in Melbourne have spotted some similarities between our new trains, trams and buses and Arnott’s Shapes.

It appears the first comparison was noticed between the PTV buses and Chicken Crimpys with their standout orange design and the internet did the rest.

Spokesman for the Public Transport Users Association Daniel Bowen has now posted a full set of Arnott’s Shapes with their matching transport options.

Premier Daniel Andrews picked up the picture on his social media feed, much to the delight of Instagram and Facebook junkies on their way to work.

“We’re building 100 E-Class Barbecues, 18 new Pizzas, 100 Chicken Crimpys and 65 high-capacity Nacho Cheeses.

“This was dreamed up by @danielbowen3204 — and it’s truly a thing of beauty,” Mr Andrews posted.

The responses online varied but people overall seemed to love that Melbourne’s public transport network looks like a box of biscuits.

“We will be the foodie state soon,” one social media said.

“My baby takes the morning Nacho Cheese,” said another.

Love stories were also shared.

One man tagged his partner and wrote: “we met on the chicken crimpy that’s why you love them.”

His apparent lover replied: “holy sh*t iconic”.

While the designs also got a shout out, “the PTV designer is a big Shapes fan,” wrote Simon Hatfield.

However, not everyone was happy with the comparison.

Cabbie supporters posted pictures of Shapes’ cheddar flavour matched with Yellow Cabs, saying it’s a pity they missed out with the arrival of Uber.
