Clothing for tall women launched by Height of Fashion

FINDING clothes that fit has always been a tall order for Natalie Matthews — and now she’s helping her fellow statuesque women who have so far been excluded by mainstream fashion.

FINDING clothes that fit has always been a tall order for Natalie Matthews.

At 190cm, Matthews, from Richmond, says she has often felt excluded by mainstream fashion.

“I had to learn to sew from an early age in order to cater for my wardrobe,” Matthews says.

“I would look at my friends and peers, who seemed to have so many fashionable options, and I felt like there was nothing available to me. I felt ignored by retailers.”

She says she is proud to come to the rescue of other statuesque women, launching Australia’s first online shop dedicated to taller women, Height of Fashion, today.

And with recent research revealing that Australia has moved from being the 29th tallest nation to the 15th tallest nation, Matthews said the time is right.

“I think retailers thought there wasn’t enough demand for it, but as a society, women are getting taller.”

Matthew’s designs feature longer hem and leg lengths and adjusted sleeve lengths.

Made with her own bespoke patterns, she says her designs also elongate the torso measurements and have proportionate crotches and arm holes.

She describes her designs as “sexy and sophisticated”.

“Being tall, I think I am in a position to understand that women don’t want to shy away from their height, they want to feel empowered,” she says.
