IF an artisan doughnut rolled in sugar, dipped in melted chocolate and filled with honeycomb crunch ice cream tickles your tastebuds, then you have Morgan Hipworth to thank.
Melbourne’s doughnut prince is set to unveil his latest tantalising treat, with new creations tailor made to help us cool down during the sultry summer.
Not content with the gourmet doughnuts that put the 15-year-old entrepreneur from Bistro Morgan on the Melbourne map, the avid baker has teamed up with gelato aficionados at 7 Apples to bring us doughnut ice cream sandwiches.
No surprises here, but the Golden Gaytime Sandwich — complete with Gaytime crumb and salted caramel drizzle — is expected to be particularly popular with sugar-hungry crowds.
“I wanted to do something different, and everyone loves ice cream,” Morgan told the Herald Sun.
“I wanted to combine the things people love the most, and ice cream and doughnuts are the perfect combination.”
The limited edition sandwiches will be on the menu at Bistro Morgan in Windsor for up three weeks, but Morgan says if they’re popular enough, they could stay until the end of the summer.
