WHAT started as a joke between friends in Brunswick has become a worldwide movement of people attempting to recreate their favourite Macca’s meals at home.
Melbourne artist Joel Cornell, 31, founded the Facebook page Homemade McDonald’s in February and it has since grown to a global community of 25,0000 fast food enthusiasts sharing their culinary efforts.
HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY FOR THE TASTE OF A BIG MAC?

He said group members had attempted to make almost everything on the menu but the classic burgers and sauces were the most commonly attempted treats.
“People make a lot of Big Macs because they want to nail the sauce and also it’s probably the most challenging,” Mr Cornell said.
“A lot of people fail and they upload their fails and it’s pretty funny.”
The group founder conceded making Maccas at home was “ridiculous” but said it was about the experience and cooking community.
“You need to have that raw passion for McDonald’s,” he said.
“You drive down the road and you see the golden arches and you get that tingly feeling. You need that.”
Despite its Australian origins, the group has now been overrun with burger enthusiasts from the UK, North America and Europe.
But not everyone is a fan of what Mr Cornell has created.
“My Italian mum is disgusted with what’s going on,” the group founder said.
“Mum would be like ‘what are you doing? That’s disgusting’.”
