The feel good news of the week was the secret wedding of Princess Beatrice.

The Queen’s granddaughter wed her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a private ceremony on Friday morning in Windsor, making it the most intimate royal wedding in history.

There were fewer than 20 people invited but it was steeped in tradition.

Beatrice’s dress was a nod to the Queen as it was first worn by Queen Elizabeth II in the 60s. It was redesigned by British couturier Norman Hartnell and accessorised with the Queen Mary Diamond Fringe tiara. This accessory is of special importance: the Queen wore the tiara on her own wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947.
