Maccas reveals the top ordered item on their menu in 2023

Whether it’s after Saturday sport or a road trip essential stop, Mcdonald's has become an integral part of Aussie culture.

And they’ve recently revealed the most ordered menu items courtesy of insights from the MyMacca's app over the past 12 months.

And the winner is…

Taking the crown for the ultimate go-to order in 2023 is the beloved Macca's Hash Browns, winning hearts from coast to coast. 

When it comes to Aussies ordering after dark (between 11 pm and 4 am), it's all about Fries, Hash Browns, and Cheeseburgers, emerging as the undisputed late-night menu favourites. 

And for those with a sweet tooth, the Soft Serve Cone with Cadbury Flake steals the spotlight as the go-to late-night dessert.

A new favourite

But that's not all – the McCrispy, a welcomed addition to the McDonald's Australia menu, has been a standout since earning its permanent spot in September, delighting the taste buds of over half a million customers. 

Elly Griffiths, Head of Consumer Activations at McDonald’s Australia, expresses her excitement: "This year, our fans have continued to show their love for the Golden Arches, celebrating life’s feel-good moments with MyMacca’s.”

Griffiths is also enthusiastic about the unique hacks and flavour combinations Australians bring to their McDonald's experience, saying, “While our core menu continues to offer great quality and great tasting products, we’ve enjoyed watching from the sidelines as Aussies continue to make Macca’s their own.”

A standout hack of the year was a concoction that took TikTok and the Macca’s App by storm.

Created by the inventive Kelly Arvan from Point Cook in Victoria, the Hash Brown McFlurry Sandwich generated over 25,000 orders for Hash Browns and a McFlurry via the MyMacca’s app between January and November.

Fun facts about the golden arches

McDonald's serves an astonishing one per cent of the world's population daily.

It has also been the first job for many well-known individuals, including Jay Leno, Sharon Stone, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

McDonald's is also the world's largest distributor of toys due to the inclusion of toys in Happy Meals, producing a staggering 1.5 billion toys annually.
