But this little known suburb of Lismore is the luckiest place in the country when it comes to wins in one US lottery.

It is ahead of Ultimo in Sydney and Bellfield in Melbourne as having the biggest wins in the USA Power Lotto which jackpots to $576 million on Tuesday.

While Goonellabah had the highest total winnings and the biggest wins, Surfers Paradise had the greatest number of wins, followed by Melbourne and Point Cook in Victoria and Kellyville and Hurstville in NSW, according to The Lottery Office.

Goonellabah in the northern NSW town of Lismore has had Australia’s biggest wins in the USA Power Lotto.

Last month, one NSW man took home $92,000 after coming within one number of winning the $333 million USA Power Lotto jackpot, a lottery that has jackpotted to $US$1B twice this year.

Jaclyn Wood, CEO of The Lottery Office, said overseas lotteries offer higher prize pools than local lotteries.

“The Lottery Office is 100 per cent Australian-owned and operated. We are passionate about enabling Australians to benefit from international lotteries, as those draws are often significantly larger on average than what you will find in other Australian lotteries,’’ Ms Wood said.

“When our customers win, we pay them the exact amount of the winnings we collect from the overseas lottery ticket.’’

The jackpot prize will be on sale until midday Tuesday.
