Kmart shoppers ‘terrified’ over $45 oil diffuser that looks like a burning toaster

People claim it's very calming but their partners are being sent into a mild panic. 

Every now and then, in between items we absolutely MUST have, a Kmart product rolls around that stops us in our tracks - for all the wrong reasons!

Like this $5 fairy toy that left parents horrified or the accidentally X-rated beauty finds. 

And now you can add another to the list. Kmart shoppers are flocking to the store to nab their $45 Fire Aroma Diffuser, which has been getting mixed reactions online. 

Ditching the traditional tear-drop or sphere shapes we often see around, the Kmart oil diffuser is a rectangular shape and boasts a flame-like mist to mimic a fireplace ambience in your home. 

"Create an aromatic, soothing atmosphere in your home with this fire aroma diffuser. Allow yourself to relax with its in-built mist and light selections with timer options," the product description reads on the retailer's website.

"Someone call 000!"

And a fireplace it sure does mimic, except some people think the homewares item a little TOO realistic. 

Posting on the Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook page, one shopper shared an image of the diffuser, claiming it looked like something dangerous.

"I had to share because this is way too funny, does it this look like a toaster on fire to anyone else?" she asked the group. 

And an influx of comments agreed, with many sharing they too thought it looked like a toaster up in flames. 

"Looks like a toaster on fire lol," one person chuckled. 

"I thought it looked like a toaster on fire," another agreed. 

"100% looks like a toaster on fire," echoed another. 

And another joked: "The only aroma out of that is BURNING TOAST!"

Meanwhile, some members claimed they already had it and shared that it freaks everyone out when they see it. 

"Yes, my daughter has one and it's horrific lol. I worry that the neighbours are going to see it 'burning' when on at night and then the fire brigade rock up!!" one mum shared. 

And another shopper shared a similar story: "I've got one and it freaks people out when it's going in my kitchen...it cracks me up...it is pretty cool."

People are loving the quirky design

While some were a little terrified of having it in their home, others were keen to nab one.

"OMG it's actually impressive!" one fan wrote. 

And they weren't the only fan either. The Kmart website is filled with positive reviews of the item, with many claiming it is not only quirky in design but it is actually soothing despite the fact that it looks like a kitchen appliance on fire. 

One person shared: "Don't walk, run to get this diffuser, it is amazing. It really looks like flames are coming out of the top. Had to tell Hubby it is supposed to look like this, please don't fire extinguish it."

And another happy customer claimed it was the perfect addition to her home to keep things looking cosy for winter. 

"I was so happy after many years of searching for something that resembled a fire to fit into our very small iron fireplace & surround. This item fits perfectly & creates the ambience."
