Kmart has released a pool essential just in time for summer, and fans have been racing to get their hands on it - with some describing it as the “best purchase ever”.

The discount store’s 2-in-1 Inflatable Pool Lounger retails for $29 and can either be used as a pool float on the water or be filled with water as a personal pool.

The Kmart product, which has proved so popular its already sold out online, comes with a removable inflatable headrest and cup holder to enjoy a cold drink while relaxing.

Fans can still find the sought-after item, with more online stock set to land during December and January.

“The Kmart 2-in-1 Inflatable Pool Lounger is designed to bring more fun and relaxation to family pool days, letting everyone enjoy floating or lounging in the sun with ease,” a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.

“It has been popular because it combines comfort and versatility, offering a fun way for families to relax and play in the pool.

“Its everyday low price and durable design make it a favourite, without breaking the budget.”

It can be inflated with either a foot pump, hand pump or low-pressure electric pump.

The brand also added that fans have been loving Kmart’s entire pool and beach range, which includes a $14 Inflatable Deluxe Lounger, which is equally as popular for its “stylish” and “practical” nature.

There are also plenty of kids pool toys such as ride on sharks, crocodiles, avocados, flamingoes and unicorns.

TikTok users can’t get enough of the pool float, with influencer Madi Morris praising the product in a recent clip that has racked up over 300,000 views.

“For the girls without pools, this one is for you,” she said, showing footage of herself in a bikini in her backyard enjoying the lounger.

“This is perfect if you don’t have a pool or you’re not a beach person or you don’t have a beach nearby. I have been needing this my whole life. I just know these are gonna sell out, so girl you better run.”

Fellow creator, @heloisaaa06, also told her followers to “run to Kmart” and said the budget buy was “definitely worth my money”.

Shoppers quickly rushed to the comment sections, with one happy customer saying, “I got this and can’t recommend more! Amazing!”

“I’m getting this to put in my pool and float,” admitted another.

“Wait, this is so smart,” remarked someone else.

“I went and got this today, so keen to try it,” yet another user shared.

“These are so much fun in creeks,” shared another, while somebody else wrote, “Kmart just has everything.”

However, some have claimed the device encourages tanning, with one person saying, “It’s 2024 sis, we don’t tan. We wear sunscreen and prevent melanoma.”

“Smart girls don’t tan. They seek shade and slap sunscreen on, so they don’t look like prunes,” replied another.

Despite people criticising the product for “promoting tanning”, there are only two uses for the item listed on the Kmart website – a pool float and a personal pool.

This launch comes after another sellout product was re-released in November – the $39 Palm Sun Lounger Face Down.

It is a cleverly designed beach chair that features an in-built hole for your face to rest comfortably while relaxing at the beach, along with two convenient gaps for your arms.

The “genius” item allows you to lie face down on your stomach, as you would on a massage table, and read, snack, or scroll on your phone while your neck is cradled by padding.

Shoppers got wind of the summer must-have and took to social media to rave about it.

“If you live in Australia, run, don’t walk to Kmart,” one person said while showing off the chair on a beach.

According to the budget retailer’s website, the sun lounger is said to be “an ideal pick for relaxing by the beach or poolside.”

It comes in both a blue palm print and a colourful striped design and features a convenient side pouch, a detachable pillow and carry handles for easy transport.

“Always find something interesting at Kmart,” one said.

“OMG, I saw this in Kmart and debated whether to buy it or not! SOLD!” someone else admitted.

“This is amazing, my neck NEEDS THIS!” remarked a third.

And customers already on the bandwagon confirmed it’s worth the hype.

One user claimed, “It’s my favourite thing to have ever purchased.”

However, as with the inflatable pool float, people voiced their concerns about sun safety and the product potentially enabling people to spend too much time in the sun.

“I’d be very careful being in the hot Aussie sun! Please make sure you do your regular skin checks,” advised one person.

“PLEASE don’t run to Kmart unless it’s for sunscreen, you’re worth more than a tan,” wrote another.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer diagnoses in the world, with 2000 people dying every year from the disease.

The Cancer Council recommends that, while in the sun, Aussies should be using sunscreen that is at least SPF30+.

It also recommends wearing clothing, putting on a hat and sunglasses, and finding a spot in the shade.
