Woman tells how skinny jab Ozempic left her with ‘burnt genitals’

Fat-burning drug Ozempic has taken the world by storm, but for one woman the side effects were horrific. See the hidden risks.

It’s the “skinny jab” that’s taken the world by storm.

But fat-burning drug Ozempic had a horrific side effect for one woman with diabetes, who revealed she suffered “severe burns” on her genitals.

Maria Rosas, a professor of pharmacology at the University of Texas, told of her devastating experience in a first-person piece for Newsweek, describing how her once-weekly jabs resulted in “charred skin” on her vagina, anus and buttocks.

Professor Rosas said at one point she feared she would die from the excruciating pain from the medication.

“I noticed ‘pieces’ of skin on my toilet seat and on the tissue paper when I cleaned [my genital] area,” she wrote.

“I checked, and my genitals, anus, and buttocks were severely burned, some areas with charred skin,” she said.

“It was as if I was exposed to sunlight for days.”

The grandmother, who has grappled with Type-2 diabetes for over 20 years, first began taking the jabs last April, hoping the drug would stabilise her glucose levels.

“It was only a once-a-week injection, and I was tired of taking a lot of medications twice a day for so long,” Professor Rosas said.

Australia’s pharmaceuticals regulator has tightened advice on the diabetes drug after soaring demand triggered major shortages.

Doctors are now being advised to not prescribe new patients Ozempic unless there are no suitable alternatives.

The most common side effects with Ozempic include stomach problems such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and constipation.

If prescribed with other diabetes medication it can cause low blood sugar which may cause sudden sweating, shaking, fast heartbeat, hunger, blurred vision, dizziness, headache or tingling hands and feet.

In September, Aussie PR queen Roxy Jacenko told how she suffered uncontrollable vomiting and non-stop shaking after accidentally overdosing on Ozempic.

Last August, a 35-year-old Canadian women named Amelia, a financial analyst and mother of one with type 2 diabetes, told The New York Post that she suddenly became suicidal from her weekly dosages of the skinny jab.

A number of people have been diagnosed with severe gastroparesis, or stomach paralysis, as a result of the shots.

“I wish I never touched it,” US woman Joanie Knight, from Louisiana, told CNN.

“This medicine made my life hell.”
