Kilmore remains on edge as the cafe at the centre of the town’s coronavirus outbreak confirmed a further two positive cases overnight.
In a post on The Oddfellows Cafe’s Facebook page it was revealed that one more staff member and a family member had become infected.
“We are glad today is nearly over, its been a day of anticipation for myself & staff as we‘ve waited for most of our test results to come in,” the post said.
“We have mixed emotions tonight – We can tell you we have one more confirmed case among our staff at the Oddfellows & a confirmed case of a family member, this news has broken our hearts & hope they have a mild case with a quick recovery.”
The two additional cases means there are a total of four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kilmore now.
It could also explain a small rise in regional Victoria’s 14-day virus average, which went from 0.3 to 0.4 overnight.
It comes after it was revealed a diner who ate in at the Oddfellows Cafe was a relative of a staff member at The Butcher Club, which is connected to the Chadstone outbreak of 31 cases.
Victoria’s state chief health officer Professor Brett Sutton said the man was permitted to be in regional Victoria for work, but was not allowed to eat in at a restaurant.
There are more than 230 people isolating in Kilmore as a result of the cases linked to the Oddfellows Cafe.
The Oddfellows Cafe said they were still grateful it wasn’t worse in the post.
“Then on the other hand we are happy to announce all other results today for staff from both cafes have been negative,” it wrote.
“There have been no positive cases for our staff at The Rose Cafe but all staff have been instructed to quarantine & re-test on the 11th day for both cafes.
“We are still waiting on a couple of results which we will have over the next couple of days. Both cafes will remain closed for a minimum of 14 days.”
A COVID-19 pop-up testing clinic has been set up at the town’s Memorial Hall, with health authorities urging anyone who attended the cafe between September 30 October 3 – with or without symptoms – to get tested.
Victoria recorded 11 new virus cases on Thursday, and no new deaths.
